JUNK started life as a retail store in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland from 2013 – 2016, carrying a mod selection of housewares, clothing and décor from all over the world.  Opening as we did on Water Street (St. John’s main downtown thoroughfare), we were well aware that we would encounter a significant amount of tourist foot traffic; Newfoundland and Labrador being one of Canada’s hottest tourist destinations.  We wanted to offer something that was about Newfoundland and Labrador (for tourist and local alike), but something that was also reflective of the store’s more hip/mod feel.  

 

As a result, our series of JUNK original prints started, capturing local landmarks but in an art deco style that harkened back to the golden age of travel.  From this series, came further additions covering content as varied as flora and fauna, to local architecture, and referencing styles from art deco, to mid-century modern and beyond.  Our series of original prints have been featured in many publications, on television and radio, and grace the homes of thousands of satisfied JUNK customers.  

 

With the closing of the store in Summer 2016, we knew we wanted to move online and thus our JUNK originals prints and cards now makes the transition to a web-based shopping experience.  We hope you enjoy the art and keep checking back for new additions!
